Differences Between Round and Teardrop Breast Implants
When our Omaha patients come in for their preliminary consultation with Dr. Ayoub, one of the comments we always hear is that they feel a huge sense of relief. There are a wide range of questions that our patients need to answer before their breast enhancement. Omaha women need to think about the size of implants they want, what type of implants, where to place the implant, and where the incision will go. But on top of all of that, there’s one other question that is often overlooked, and that’s the shape of the breast implant. Dr. Ayoub spends a great deal of time discussing all of these with our patients, but we wanted to use this blog post to talk about the difference between round and teardrop breast implants.

Breast Implant Shapes: Round vs. Teardrop
When most people think of breast implants, they visualize round breast implants. While round implants are the most popular for breast enhancement, Omaha women have other options to consider that could deliver even better results depending on their body, their goals, and the original shape and size of their breasts.
Round Breast Implants
One of the advantages of round implants is that they tend to give more fullness to the top portion of the breast. For women who want more cleavage, this is usually a great option. However, round implants aren’t considered “anatomical” which is why some women prefer the more natural shape of the teardrop. But round implants tend to be softer and feel more natural to the touch which is one of the reasons they’re more popular.
Teardrop Breast Implants
As their name suggests, teardrop implants carry most of their volume at the base with a natural-looking slope up to the top. For Omaha women that don’t have a lot of existing breast tissue, this is a terrific option. Teardrop implants are also very durable and resist leaking quite well. However, they may feel more firm, and they also have a very small risk of rotating inside the breast pocket. For women that have had a mastectomy, the teardrop implant can help restore a natural looking breast shape.
