Over time, our skin begins to lose collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, which is what causes you to develop fine lines and wrinkles. Injectable fillers are injectable gel solutions that help reduce deeper lines or wrinkles and plump up uneven areas of your face. Unlike BOTOX®, fillers work by restoring volume rather than relaxing into facial muscles.

The Benefits of Injectable Fillers

Injectable fillers are an excellent option if you are looking to revitalize your appearance without getting a facelift. While a facelift may eventually be needed to restore your youthful appearance, injectable fillers will keep you looking young and refreshed until a facelift is absolutely necessary.* By beginning with non-surgical treatment, you can:

  • Smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Revolumize and soften deep creases.
  • Enhance lips and cheeks.

Fillers can be applied to any area of your face to reduce the telltale signs of aging or create the shape and volume your want.*

Am I a Good Candidate for Injectable Fillers?

Virtually anyone who would like to improve the appearance of their facial signs of aging can benefit from injectable fillers. Whether you would like to plump up your thin lips, decrease smile lines running from your nose to the corners of your mouth, reduce the appearance of horizontal lines on your forehead, or renew lost volume to the apples of your cheeks, there is an injectable filler for you.

Before choosing an injectable filler, we recommend visiting our practice for a one-on-one appointment with Dr. Ayoub. During your meeting, he will review your overall health history, talk to you about your overall aesthetic goals and desired results, and perform a patient screening. In general, the following criteria makes you a good candidate for injectable fillers:

  • You are in good overall physical health
  • You do not smoke or use tobacco products
  • You have a positive outlook and realistic goals in mind for the improvement of your appearance
  • You are committed to maintaining good skin health to prolong your results

Injectable Fillers FAQs

How To Reduce Swelling After Injectable Fillers?

Here’s how to reduce swelling after injectable fillers:

1. Cold Compress: Apply a cold compress wrapped in a thin cloth to the treated area for 10-15 minutes at a time, several times a day, especially during the first 24 hours. This constricts blood vessels and reduces inflammation.

2. Elevation: Keep your head elevated while sleeping or resting for a few nights. This helps drain fluid away from the treated area, minimizing swelling.

3. Hydration: Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Staying hydrated helps flush out any toxins and prevents fluid retention, which can worsen swelling.

4. Avoid Certain Activities: Avoid strenuous exercise, hot showers, and excessive sun exposure for at least 24-48 hours after your treatment. These can increase blood flow and worsen swelling.

5. Gentle Skincare: Avoid harsh products, scrubbing, or applying makeup directly to the treated area for a few days. Use gentle cleansers and fragrance-free moisturizers.

6. Limited Touching: Avoid touching, rubbing, or picking at the treated area, as this can irritate the area and prolong swelling.

7. Over-the-counter Pain relief: Consult your doctor before taking any medication, but generally, acetaminophen (Tylenol) is safe for pain relief. Avoid ibuprofen and aspirin as they can thin your blood and worsen swelling.

8. Gentle Lip Balm: For lip fillers, use a fragrance-free lip balm to keep lips moist and prevent them from drying out.

Can I Combine Injectable Fillers?

  • Different areas: You can use different fillers on different facial areas during one session, like lip fillers with fillers for wrinkles. This is sometimes called a “liquid facelift.”
  • Same session: Combining different types of fillers within the same session in specific areas may be possible to achieve specific results, but this should be carefully assessed by your doctor.

Are Injectable Fillers Available for Men?

Absolutely, injectable fillers are available and increasingly popular for men. While traditionally associated with women, many men are now seeking this non-surgical procedure to enhance their appearance.

Here are some of the reasons why men choose injectable fillers:

  • Enhance facial definition and structure: Fillers can add volume to areas like the cheeks, jawline, and temples, creating a more sculpted and chiseled look.
  • Reduce wrinkles and lines: Fillers can smooth out wrinkles around the eyes, mouth, and forehead, promoting a youthful appearance.
Improve facial symmetry: Fillers can address minor asymmetries in the face, creating a more balanced and harmonious appearance.
