What Will Your Breasts Feel Like After Surgery?

Anytime you have surgery; it’s a trauma to your body, and you will feel pain. Such is the case with breast augmentation surgery. Thankfully, compression garments and prescription painkillers help with swelling and pain, and you should manage your pain so that you are still able to rest, but function.

Will Your Nipples Be Sensitive?

Immediately after your Omaha breast augmentation surgery, you may find that your nipples are ultra sensitive. This is because of nerve endings in the nipples that are stretching around the implants. Nipple sensitivity after a breast augmentation is most common in younger women who increase from a B cup to a C cup, though it can be experienced by anyone who undergoes breast augmentation. Typically, nipple sensitivity will resolve itself within a few months. In the meantime, you can try the following remedies to alleviate any nipple pain or ultra sensitivity:

• Wear pasties, Band-Aids or place gauze over your nipples to prevent them from rubbing against your bra or clothing, causing additional sensitivity or pain;
• Ask your Omaha plastic surgeon for anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce nipple sensitivity and pain; and
• Perform a breast massage to alleviate nipple sensitivity by massaging the outside of the breast and ribs, which helps compress the nipple nerve before the area that is being stretched.
