For several decades now, one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures in the world is a breast enlargement. Omaha women that are unsatisfied with the size of their breasts and want to get more cleavage can get beautiful, natural-looking results with a breast enlargement from Dr. Ayoub. However, while our “boob job” patients absolutely love the results they get, there are lots of challenging decisions that need to be made before the actual procedure. One of the most important is where to place the incision. Patients have several different incision options to consider, and this is one of the topics that patients spend a great deal of time discussing with Dr. Ayoub. In this blog post, we’ll look at 3 of the most common incision sites and discuss some of the pros and cons of each strategy.

3 Incision Options for Breast Enlargement

Omaha women that decide to get breast augmentation will have to make a difficult decision: where they want to have their incision placed. Of course, the reason this is such a tough decision is that the incision location will determine where the resulting scar appears.

Inframammary

With an inframammary incision, Dr. Ayoub will make an incision in the fold of skin at the bottom of the breast called the inframammary crease. While this strategy does create a scar along the underside of the breast, there are some benefits to this method. First, the scar can be concealed under a bra or bikini top. Second, because the incision is close to the breast pocket, Dr. Ayoub has much more visibility at the surgical site. Third, there is little risk of losing breastfeeding abilities with this method.

If you want more information or have any questions, here is how you can get some answers.

Transaxillary

Another option is the transaxillary In this unique option, the incision is made in the armpit. Dr. Ayoub then “tunnels” the implant down into the breast pocket. This allows patients to keep the scar far away from the breasts.

Periareolar

In a periareolar incision, Dr. Ayoub places the scar around the nipple. While the scar is less visible while wearing a bra or bikini top, this method does produce a scar that is commonly called the “lollipop” scar because of how much it resembles the shape of the candy. One drawback to this method is that the risk of losing breastfeeding abilities is increased after the breast enlargement. Omaha women that still want to breastfeed in the future will need to discuss these risks with Dr. Ayoub.
