Breast Lift Omaha
The firmness and shape of your breasts are influenced not only by age but the number of children you’ve had and significant weight loss. These factors can cause your breasts to sag (ptosis) and even lose the fullness that they once had. Omaha patients who experience these changes can restore the shape and firmness of their breasts by undergoing a breast lift.*
A breast lift, or mastopexy, reduces excess skin and tightening underlying breast tissue to:
- Reposition the breasts higher on the chest.
- Lift sagging nipples to their ideal position, 2 cm above the inframammary fold.
- Create firm, shapely breasts.
In some cases, Omaha patients who have lost volume can benefit from combining a breast augmentation with their breast lift to restore their breast size and improve the shape of their breasts. Patients with larger breasts may be happier with a breast reduction to reduce size and reshape their breasts.*
Can I Combine a Breast Lift and Breast Augmentation?
Women whose breasts have gotten smaller after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss often want to increase the size of their breasts at the same time as their breast lift. These procedures are a natural fit and can be performed during the same operation to restore both upper pole fullness with a breast augmentation and a breast lift for sagging.
What Will Happen During My Breast Lift Consultation?
One of the first steps to consultation is a review of your medical history to ensure that you are in good health for surgery. Dr. Ayoub will then perform a physical examination to diagnose the severity of breast ptosis (sagging). Your consultation is an opportunity for you to voice any concerns and problem areas that you want to address. Dr. Ayoub will advise you on what is possible and use the innovative TouchMD tool to show you options for surgery.
Once your consultation has ended, you will be able to log into TouchMD to access videos, articles, and any simulations that Dr. Ayoub used during the consultation. Using VECTRA’s 3D imaging system, Dr. Ayoub will create an accurate simulation of your body after different procedures. This will help you decide how to position your breasts and if a breast augmentation is necessary to achieve the results that you want.
What Will Happen During My Breast Lift?
A breast lift is an outpatient procedure and will be performed while you are under general anesthesia. During the procedure Dr. Ayoub will:
- Make an incision that extends around the areola and possibly down and under the breast crease.
- Reduce tissue and skin to contour and lift your breasts.
- Move your nipples so that they point straight forward.
- Close the incision using sutures.
Patients who decide to undergo a breast augmentation at the same time as their breast lift will have their implants placed through the same incision to minimize scarring.
Recovering from Your Breast Lift
A breast lift that is not combined with breast augmentation will require only one week of healing time.* As you heal, it is normal to experience some:
- Pain
- Swelling
- Redness
These symptoms will peak the day after surgery and become less severe as your body heals.* Omaha patients who undergo a combined breast lift and augmentation will require more time to heal because breast augmentation is a more invasive surgery. However, it is recommended to combined the procedures rather than perform two surgeries to minimize recovery time and scarring.
Tips for Your Recovery
To reduce the time it takes to heal, you should plan on taking at least one week off from your normal activities.* While you are recovering, a compression garment should be worn to limit swelling and anti-inflammatory medication taken to alleviate any discomfort. Dr. Ayoub will schedule a follow-up exam to check that you are healing well from surgery, but you should call if you experience severe symptoms.
