Omaha Liposuction for Men
Stubborn fat has a way of gravitating to certain areas and staying there. Liposuction is a popular procedure for men to reveal a contoured body by reducing fat from the:
- Neck and chin for a contoured jawline.
- Flanks, love handles, and abdomen for defined abs.
- Buttocks, chest, and legs to create a more masculine profile.
Dr. Ayoub can also treat a condition known as gynecomastia by combining liposuction with a male breast reduction for a more sculpted chest.
How Do You Perform Liposuction?
Liposuction works by inserting a cannula, thin tube with a vacuum attached, to suction fat. Once the fat has been reduced it is unlikely to return to the same area unless you gain a significant amount of weight.* Many Omaha patients target several areas in one procedure and add a tummy tuck to enhance the results of their liposuction.
What Will Happen During My Procedure?
There are a variety of liposuction techniques available. However, the most effective treatment for stubborn fat deposits is tumescent, or superwet, liposuction. To prepare for this procedure, Dr. Ayoub will dilute a solute of local anesthesia with saline, and epinephrine, The purpose of this step is to:
- Minimize pain after your operation.
- Concentrate fat to facilitate removal.
- Shrink blood vessels to reduce the amount of blood lost.
While the procedure is similar to other forms of liposuction, because your tissue absorbs the solution prior to the operation Dr. Ayoub can use a gentler technique to suction away fat deposits.
Should I Do Anything to Prepare for My Liposuction?
Before undergoing liposuction, it is best if you reach a stable weight that is only five or ten pounds more than your goal weight. While weight is not the main deciding factor for surgery, you should not expect to lose a lot of weight. Liposuction is intended to sculpt and contour, not as a substitute for weight loss. To keep weight stable, Omaha patients should practice a healthy diet and moderate exercise schedule.
How Long Will It Take to Recover?
Liposuction is an involved procedure and it may take several weeks to recover from some of the symptoms.* After your surgery it is normal to experience:
Dr. Ayoub will prescribe pain medication to help you manage pain in the first few days of your recovery. You can also apply ice packs to reduce swelling and improve your comfort. Omaha patients should plan on taking 2-4 days off from work to ensure optimal healing.*
Things to Avoid While Healing
While wearing a compression garment can help reduce swelling and speed healing, patients should avoid strenuous activity for a month or two after surgery.* Vigorous exercise, sports, or other strenuous activities can cause additional swelling which can delay healing.
