Omaha Dysport / BOTOX / Xeomin

When you squint, frown, or smile, the muscles between your brows, on your forehead, or around your eyes (“crow’s feet”) contract in different ways, causing the skin to furrow and fold.  Over time, as your skin ages and loses some of its elasticity, these repeated contractions can cause persistent lines. BOTOX® and Xeomin® are simple, moderately invasive procedures ideal for stopping these early signs of aging that show on the forehead, brows, and around the eyes:*

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Crow’s feet
  • Frown lines (“11” lines between the eyebrows).

Approved by the FDA for cosmetic use for years, BOTOX, Dysport and Xeomin are both safe medications and have minimal side effects if any.*

What is BOTOX?

BOTOX, or onabotulinumtoxinA, works by temporarily paralyzing the facial muscles that cause wrinkles and lines. Interestingly, your muscles will only remain motionless for three months after treatment, but the effects of BOTOX can last up to six months if you’ve had consistent treatment.*

How Long Will It Take for BOTOX to Work?

As the leading treatment for fine lines and wrinkles, BOTOX will produce a noticeable result immediately after the procedure. Most Omaha patients will continue to see improvement for the next 24-48 hours, and may see improvement even up to one month after treatment.*

What is Dysport?

Dysport  (abobotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription injection that temporarily improves the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adult patients less than 65 years of age.  Dysport blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscles, which reduces muscle activity and temporarily prevents contraction of the muscles that cause frown lines between the eyebrows.  With Dysport, it’s just the frown lines that are minimized, not your expressions.  Dysport has been shown to deliver temporary improvement in moderate to severe frown lines, even with repeat treatments.*  There is minimal downtime needed following the procedure.  More than half of patients saw improvement 2 to 3 days after treatment.

What is Xeomin?

Xeomin, or incobotulinumtoxinA, has an effect similar to Botox but is composed of slightly different ingredients. The main difference between the two treatments is how the patient responds. Some patients tend to have better results with Xeomin while others see more improvement with BOTOX.*

How Long Will It Take for Xeomin to Work?

Xeomin tends to take slightly longer to take effect, normally within 3-4 days after injection. Most patients will notice constant improvement until they reach a maximum effect at 30-days. The typical duration of effect is up to 3 months, but may last significantly longer or shorter in individual patients.*

How Does BOTOX and Xeomin Work?

A series of tiny injections are strategically administered to relax the facial muscles that cause frown lines, forehead lines, and/or crow’s feet. BOTOX or Xeomin is used to reduce static lines of fine wrinkles in the face and also to dynamically change the anatomy of the facial structures to produce a brow lift and a more rejuvenated face.*

Neither BOTOX nor Xeomin requires anesthesia, and the procedure can be safely completed over the lunch hour with the patient returning to work the same day.*

Recovering from BOTOX/Xeomin Treatment

While BOTOX and Xeomin are safe and effective treatments for facial rejuvenation, patients may experience some symptoms in the first few days after surgery. These include:

  • Discomfort
  • Swelling
  • Bruising

If you experience difficulty breathing, nausea, or headaches after treatment, you should immediately contact Dr. Ayoub’s office.
